Teeth, Eyes and Ears in Your Medicare Plan
Original Medicare was designed around hospitals and doctors, not routine dental, vision and hearing care. Many people learn this the first time they need new glasses or a crown.
We help Perth Amboy residents see what coverage exists for these needs, how much it actually pays and whether it is worth choosing a plan around it.

We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.
What Original Medicare Does and Does Not Pay
- Routine cleanings, fillings, extractions and dentures are generally not covered
- Routine eye exams for glasses and the glasses themselves are generally not covered
- Hearing aids and exams to fit them are not covered
- A diagnostic hearing or balance exam ordered by your doctor may be covered under Part B
There are exceptions. Medicare covers a yearly eye exam for people with diabetes, glaucoma tests for those at high risk, and one pair of standard glasses or contacts after cataract surgery with an implanted lens.
How Medicare Advantage Plans Help
Plenty of Part C plans bundle in checkups for teeth, eyes and ears. These can be useful, but the details matter.
- Dental benefits often have a yearly maximum and may cover only preventive care
- Vision benefits may give an allowance for frames or contacts every one or two years
- Hearing benefits may include a set price for hearing aids through a specific vendor
- Network rules may limit which dentists or optical shops you can use
We read the fine print with you and check whether your dentist or eye doctor participates.
Options Alongside a Supplement
If you prefer a Medigap policy, the supplement will not add dental or vision coverage. Some people buy a separate dental plan or a dental discount program. We help you compare the monthly cost against what you expect to spend on care each year, since a stand-alone policy may have waiting periods.
Putting It in Context
It is easy to choose a plan because of a hearing aid allowance and then find that your doctors are not in network. We weigh these extras alongside your main medical and drug needs, not ahead of them. If teeth, eyes and ears are a priority, we tell you which plans handle them best and what trade-offs come with them.
